About KS Academia Prep - IB & IGCSE Tuition, Orchard Road, Singapore

Every tuition centre teaches lessons. Almost none have any real influence on what a student does for the rest of the week - and that's usually where grades actually stall. A student can sit through an hour of excellent teaching, understand every concept in the room, and still lose most of it by the following week, because nothing structured happened in between. No practice. No feedback. No accountability. Just the vague intention to "go over it later."

KS Academia Prep, "KS" for Korean Singapore, was founded in October 2020 by Yunxiu Li to close exactly that gap. Li, an NUS BSc Life Sciences graduate with more than 23 years teaching Chemistry and Biology in Singapore, had watched capable students plateau for reasons that had nothing to do with intelligence: the work between lessons simply wasn't happening, or wasn't being checked. Li built KS Academia Prep as the answer - not a lesson provider, but a system, where subject teaching, structured supervision, academic planning and family communication work together so that what's learned on Monday is still there on Thursday.

Today, that same philosophy runs across every department, led alongside Li by Ara (Head of Mathematics) and Jason Low (Head of Economics), and it shapes how every subject at KS Academia Prep is taught.

"KS" stands for Korean Singapore. Korea's academy tradition, the hakwon system, is built around a simple idea: structured routines, consistent practice and real accountability produce results that talent alone doesn't. That's the philosophy KS Academia Prep brought to Singapore's international school community, and it's the same philosophy behind Study Supervision: not extra homework, but a structured, high-expectation environment where consistent practice is simply what happens.

This heritage shapes how every student is taught here, regardless of where their family is from. Many Korean families found KS Academia Prep first and recognised this culture immediately; today, students from Singaporean, expatriate and international-school families across Asia study alongside them, inside the same structured system. Family communication is available in English, Mandarin and Korean - over WhatsApp, KakaoTalk or WeChat - because staying connected to a child's progress shouldn't depend on which language a parent is most comfortable in. Lessons themselves are taught in English, since IB and IGCSE examinations are sat in English.

Far East Shopping Centre sits a five-minute walk from Orchard MRT (NS22/TE14), in the same stretch of the city families already pass between school pickup, home, and the rest of an international-school family's week in Singapore. For students at schools like Singapore American School, UWC South East Asia, Tanglin Trust or St. Joseph's Institution International, and for expatriate families based around River Valley, Tanglin and the Orchard corridor, that makes consistent, twice-or-more-weekly attendance genuinely realistic.

That matters more than it might sound: Study Supervision only works if a student can actually get there regularly. A programme built around consistency needs a location that doesn't fight that consistency.
