Do you teach IGCSE Coordinated Science or the separate sciences?

We teach IGCSE Coordinated Science, alongside IB Biology, IB Chemistry, IB Physics and IB Computer Science at both Standard Level and Higher Level. If your school follows a different Cambridge Science syllabus, message us on WhatsApp and we can confirm fit before your trial lesson.

What's the difference between Science SL and HL?

SL and HL share the same core topics, but HL goes further in depth, covers additional option material, and carries a heavier practical and data-analysis load. Both SL and HL students complete the Internal Assessment. We help students and parents work out which level fits a student's goals as part of a trial lesson.

Do you teach IB Computer Science?

Yes — IB Computer Science is taught at both SL and HL alongside Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Do you also teach AP or A-Level Science?

Our Senior Instructor, Chenie, teaches AP, A-Level and IB Science, so students moving between curricula or sitting AP alongside IB can be supported. Message us with your specific syllabus to confirm class fit.

What is the Science Internal Assessment (IA)?

The IA is a practical investigation designed and carried out by the student, then written up as a scientific report and marked against IB criteria by the school and moderated by the IB. We coach IA topic selection, method design, data analysis and write-up, with feedback before submission.

I understand the content but keep losing marks. Can you help?

This is one of the most common situations we see, and it's very fixable. In IB Science, losing marks despite understanding the content usually comes down to exam technique — labelled diagrams, command-term precision, data handling and evaluation — none of which self-study teaches well. We diagnose exactly where marks are leaking and drill the specific skills to close the gap.

Who teaches Science at KS Academia Prep?

Li, Head of Department for Science, oversees the Science programme, with over 20 years' experience teaching Biology and Chemistry with a particular focus on IB. Physics is led by Adrian, our Physics Specialist Instructor. Li and Adrian are supported by a wider team including Chenie (Senior Instructor, AP/A-Level/IB), Daniel and Jenny (Junior Instructors, Chemistry), Eujin (Junior Instructor, IBDP Science and Mathematics), and Minji (Junior Instructor, Chemistry, online only).

Can I take Science classes online?

Yes. Most Science classes run on-site at Far East Shopping Centre, Orchard, and some instructors — including Minji — teach online only, for students outside Singapore or who prefer remote lessons.

Do you teach in Korean as well as English?

Yes. KS Academia Prep teaches Science in English and Korean. For students whose first or second language isn't English, understanding a concept in the stronger language first often makes the English exam answer easier to write.

What size are the Science classes?

Science classes are kept small so every student's practical write-ups and exam answers actually get seen and marked, rather than lectured at in a large group.
