IGCSE Business Studies (this page) is a single-tier, fully exam-based Cambridge subject typically taken in Grades 9–10, with no coursework. If your child is in Grades 11–12 on the IB Diploma track, they're likely after IB Business Management (SL/HL) instead, which includes an Internal Assessment.
Who this is for
Whether at an international school in Singapore or preparing online, this is where structured, exam-precise coaching lives.
You follow the lessons and the ideas make sense, yet the grade never quite reflects it. The missing piece is exam technique, not content.
The entire paper is built around one case study, given as an insert on the day, reading it closely and applying every answer back to it is the skill that decides the grade.

The honest reality
Most students who struggle with IGCSE Business Studies can talk through the case study perfectly well out loud. That's exactly why the grade feels unfair.
Paper 2 is built entirely around a single case study, given to candidates as an insert with the paper on exam day. The exam rewards answers that apply theory directly back to the named company, not a generic version of the theory recited from memory. Students lose marks not because they don't know the content, but because nobody taught them how the marks are actually awarded.
That's the standard this programme is built around: small classes, and practice returned marked against the real Cambridge criteria, not "good, keep going," but the specific line that cost the mark.
Before you enrol anywhere
Five questions worth asking any centre, including us, before you commit.
Many centres market a founder and staff classes with junior teachers.
"We give feedback" can mean a tick and a comment.
"Small groups" is not an answer.
Centres built for A-Level can leave IGCSE students taught a mark scheme they'll never sit.
A centre that only assigns past papers leaves the most recoverable marks on the table.

How it's marked
Every mark in 0450 is awarded against one of four assessment objectives. Knowing which one a question is testing, signalled by its command word, is half of exam technique.

Paper 2 leans harder on analysis and evaluation than Paper 1, which is exactly why command words matter: they tell you which objective a question is testing before you write a word.

No. The core 0450 syllabus is assessed entirely through two written papers, there is no coursework or controlled assessment, and all candidates sit the same papers.
No, related subjects, different boards. IGCSE Business Studies (0450) is a single-tier, fully exam-based qualification. IB Business Management is examined at SL or HL with an Internal Assessment. See our IB Business Management page if that's what your child needs.

No. Cambridge doesn't expect learners starting the course to have studied Business Studies before, it's designed as a first introduction.
0450 can be combined with most Cambridge International syllabuses in the same exam series, the only exceptions are Cambridge IGCSE (9–1) Business Studies (0986), Cambridge O Level Business Studies (7115), and any syllabus with the same title at the same level.
