2027 syllabus

From 2027, Paper 1 has 40 multiple-choice questions and Paper 2 has 80 marks. Practise with the specimen papers, then enter your marks.

How the 2027 estimate is worked out

  1. Cambridge's IGCSE Economics syllabus for 2027, 2028 and 2029 sets Paper 1 at 40 marks (1 hour) and Paper 2 at 80 marks (2 hours), weighted 30% and 70%.
  2. We assume Cambridge again scales the two papers to a weighted total of 150, so your weighted mark is Paper 1 × 1.125 plus Paper 2 × 1.3125.
  3. No 2027 grade thresholds exist yet. We assume each grade will need about the same share of the weighted total as it did from 2020 to 2026, so your mark is compared with those 43 thresholds.
  4. The 2027 papers give less weight to evaluation and have a shorter compulsory Section A, so real 2027 thresholds may sit higher or lower. Treat every grade on this tab as an estimate.

Results days

November 2026 series: Cambridge IGCSE results are released on 14 January 2027. June 2027 series: Cambridge has not published the date yet. June results usually come out in mid-August, so expect mid-August 2027 (our estimate). For what else changes, read the 2027 IGCSE Economics syllabus changes.

How the calculator works

On the 2020 to 2026 syllabus, your weighted mark is Paper 1 × 1.5 plus Paper 2 × 7/6, rounded to the nearest whole mark. That turns 30 and 90 marks into the 150-mark total Cambridge uses, with Paper 1 worth 45 marks (30%) and Paper 2 worth 105 (70%). The weighting matches the published thresholds: every grade line Cambridge publishes sits within 1.2 marks of its two paper thresholds weighted this way.

The most likely grade is the middle grade across all 43 series and papers, so one unusually easy or hard paper does not swing it. The average-threshold grade compares your mark with the mean threshold for each grade across the same papers.

For practice papers sorted by series, see KS Academia Prep's IGCSE Economics past papers.

Questions about IGCSE Economics grade thresholds

How is an IGCSE Economics (0455) grade worked out?

Up to June 2026, Paper 1 is out of 30 and Paper 2 is out of 90. Cambridge weights them to a total out of 150, in which Paper 1 counts for 45 marks and Paper 2 for 105, so Paper 1 is 30% of the grade and Paper 2 is 70%. After each exam series, Cambridge sets the minimum weighted mark for each grade, and those grade thresholds are what this calculator uses.

How will IGCSE Economics grades work from 2027?

From 2027, Paper 1 has 40 marks and Paper 2 has 80 marks, and Cambridge's 2027 to 2029 syllabus keeps the weighting at 30% for Paper 1 and 70% for Paper 2. No 2027 thresholds exist yet, so the 2027 tab assumes a weighted total of 150 again and compares your mark with the 2020 to 2026 thresholds. Treat its grades as estimates.

Why does the A* boundary change every exam series?

Cambridge sets the thresholds after each series is marked, so they move with how hard that series' papers turned out to be. Across the papers in this calculator, the A* threshold ranged from 101 out of 150 in March 2022 to 130 in March 2026.

Which paper variant did I sit?

The last digit of the paper code on the front of your paper is the variant: 0455/12 and 0455/22 are variant 2. Every variant is listed in the table, and your school's exams office can confirm which one you will sit.

When are IGCSE results released?

Cambridge releases November 2026 IGCSE results on 14 January 2027. Cambridge has not yet published the date for the June 2027 series; June results usually come out in mid-August, so expect mid-August 2027 and check Cambridge's key dates page closer to the time.

Is the most likely grade a prediction of my real result?

No. It shows what your marks would have earned across past exam series and papers. Your real grade depends on the thresholds Cambridge sets for your own series, which are published after results day.
